IPO Allotment Status

IPO Allotment Status

Investors eagerly wait for the IPO allotment status after applying for an Initial Public Offering (IPO). Allotment tells you whether shares have been assigned to your demat account or not.

This guide explains how IPO allotment works, where to check allotment status, refund timelines, and what happens after allotment.

What Is IPO Allotment?

IPO allotment is the process through which shares are distributed among applicants after the IPO closes.

Possible outcomes:

  • Allotted – You receive shares.

  • Not allotted – No shares are assigned.

  • Partial allotment – Common in HNI or large applications.

In heavily subscribed IPOs, retail allotment is usually done through a lottery-based system.

When Is IPO Allotment Announced?

The allotment date is generally 1–3 working days after the IPO closes.

3. BSE Website

You can also check allotment on the BSE IPO page using:

  • Application number

  • PAN number

What Does “No Records Found” Mean?

Sometimes the status may show “No Records Found” because:

  • Allotment is not yet uploaded.

  • Wrong PAN or application number is entered.

  • Registrar is updating data.

Wait for a few hours and check again.

Refund and UPI Mandate

If you do not receive allotment, the blocked amount is usually released automatically.

UPI-based IPO

  • Money remains blocked during the IPO process.

  • If not allotted, the mandate is revoked or funds are released.

ASBA

  • The amount is unblocked by your bank.

Shares Credited but Not Visible?

If shares are allotted but not visible immediately:

  • Wait until the credit date mentioned in the IPO schedule.

  • Refresh your broker app.

  • Check the correct demat account.

How Is Retail Allotment Decided?

Suppose:

  • Retail shares available: 10 lakh

  • Valid retail applications: 30 lakh

Since demand is 3 times higher, not every applicant can receive shares. A computerized draw is conducted to select applicants.

Tips for IPO Investors

  • Apply with a valid PAN and demat account.

  • Approve the UPI mandate on time.

  • Check the registrar name before searching allotment.

  • Avoid multiple applications from the same PAN.
